2018, day 1. I refuse to write New Year's resolutions because they seem like a recipe for failure. I do, however, believe in setting goals. One of my goals for 2018 is to become more comfortable with off-camera flash and lighting setups (both in the studio and eventually on location outdoors). I am excited about the possibilities that lighting can open up for my photos as my style continues to evolve. While I don't yet have the equipment for outdoor lighting, I DO have a nice indoor studio setup that I brought out today with my goal in mind. I worked on testing out settings, light placement, and equipment until my girls were so tired that they were just done. But I think it all worked out quite well because I get to start the new year a little bit closer to accomplishing my goal and I also have these stunning images of their natural beauty. No makeup, no hairstyling, no wardrobe, no accessories. A serious face from each, for sure, but totally "them". So if you'd like to add some studio shots to your upcoming senior portraits, I'm working on it and I'll be happy to add an indoor studio set to your session. Just be patient and be kind. I'm on an upward curve toward learning and nowhere near mastery yet. But I do promise I'll put my heart and soul into capturing YOU exactly as you are, with all your complexities and details. This is 2018, and it looks good.
Paige is a 2018 senior at Lake Travis High School. Not only is she a Cavalette but she is also active as a church intern and in Teen Impact. Paige is on track to change the world and she loves to volunteer her time on mission trips. I loved working with this cute humanitarian! And I was so happy to find some fall leaves for our session!
I'm so happy to introduce WImberley senior, Claire. Not only is she an outstanding volleyball player with 7 years of school and club experience behind her, but she is also a member of National Honor Society and the Friends of Rachel club. Claire has flawless skin and the most crystal blue eyes. She's gorgeous!
Please meet Georgia, a senior at Westlake High School. Georgia has 11 years of experience as a dancer on her company at Alisa's Dance Academy and also has a passion for running. She ran track last year and is currently running cross country this year. Between dance and running, Georgia is one busy girl! And the latest exciting news is that Georgia has been accepted to Baylor University! She'll be the most gorgeous Baylor Bear on campus next year!
My daughter and her date looked extra sharp for homecoming this year! I couldn't resist a little mini session with them before they headed to dinner. And you have to love a young man who humors his date's crazy photographer mom for a photoshoot. The good news was that we spent 15 minutes, tops, on the photos. And I think they had a fantastic evening, even with a city-wide power outage at the beginning of the dance.
I am so pleased to introduce Westlake High School's stunning Skylar. Skylar enjoys photography, drawing and played soccer. She is involved with Interact Club, ASL club, and she works at Cho Sushi... and she is well traveled, with Russia as the favorite place she's been. Skylar's mom asked that I make sure to capture her sweet girl's blue eyes and I think we achieved that goal extremely well! She is just gorgeous! Skylar was styled by Kelly Peterson prior to the session, and then Kelly also served as our hair & makeup artist for Skylar's portrait session.
I am so honored to introduce Julia, a 2018 senior at Westlake High School. Julia is a member of National Honor Society, the Spirit Officer on the Westlake Varsity Cheer team, is a member of NEW club which welcomes new students to the Eanes district, and participates in choir as well. Outside of school she enjoys playing piano and is a member of a charity organization called GETMAD (girls energized to make a difference). With all these amazing accolades and activities, I know Julia is going to excel in college next year (hopefully at Texas A&M)!
Please meet Alia, a 2018 senior at Westlake High School. Not only is Alia elegant and traffic stoppingly gorgeous, she is also accomplished in musical theater, a world traveler, and is fluent in French. I am so impressed by this lovely young lady and enjoyed her session so much that I had a hard time letting it end. We even found time for 6 different wardrobe looks instead of the usual 5. When a client arrives with clothing and shoes this fiercely amazing, I want to capture it all.
I am so pleased to introduce St. Stephen's gorgeous twins, Jillian Isabella. These amazing young ladies dance for the competitive dance company PUSH at Balance Dance Studios, play varsity field hockey at St. Stephen's and are part of the National Charity League! Isabella's current college aspirations are to become a Nurse Practitioner, while Jillian plans to go into business. I can't wait to find out where these dynamic young ladies attend college next year!
Lili has one of the coolest roles at Westlake High School! She is the mascot, "Queso" and was voted as the mascot with the most leadership skills and won a plaque and ribbon. She is also the president of an organization called Venture Crew, a co-ed scouting group that learns teamwork and leadership skills. Lili is a tiny package with a big personality and I absolutely love her style. And I always appreciate a girl who can pull off amazing shoes like Lili can. For Lili, the shoes are the most important part of the outfit and I agree whole heartedly. She rocked her senior session.
I am so excited to show off our first senior of 2018! Olivia is such an accomplished senior that all the colleges she applies to should snatch her up immediately! Not only is she a member of National Honor Society and Westlake's Hyline varsity dance team, she is a counselor at Camp Longhorn, president of GETMAD (Girls Energized Towards Making a Difference), secretary of the Newcomers Entering Westlake club, a member of the Social Emotional Leadership Committee, Girls Education Organization club, National Honor Society club, AND Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has contributed countless hours of community service to each of these organizations while also volunteering with Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Beyond Batten Disease Foundation, and The Settlement Home, to name a few. Olivia has a special interest in Sports Therapy and injury prevention and recovery. I know she is going to do AMAZING things in the future. Meeting and photographing girls like Olivia is such a blessing and honor. I just love her heart.
I'm so excited to share Savannah's senior portraits! Savannah was our last 2017 senior this year! She is a volleyball player from Lake Travis High School and you know I'm partial to volleyball players. :) Savannah has also been involved in National Honor Society (smart girls rock!), student council, and she enjoys photography! Savannah wanted a natural look and Shawn delivered with effortless makeup and hair that was just stunning! Savannah plans to attend the University of Colorado and will be enjoying beautiful Boulder this fall. Texas will miss you, Savannah. Remember... you can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take Texas out of the girl.
I am so pleased to introduce Olivia, a Lake Travis senior and member of the Cavalettes. Olivia will be attending OU in the Fall, so those Oklahoma folks had better get ready for some Texas sass! She is friendly, bubbly, and just a very fun person to be around. I loved this photo session so much, and I think it shows in the photos. Olivia's mom, Jenny, hopped in one too. I just love it when a mom wants a photo with her girl. xoxo
I am so pleased to introduce Celestina, a senior at Bowie High School. Celestina will be attending St. Edwards University in Austin this Fall! St. Ed's is lucky to have this sweet girl among their ranks next year! I just loved that Celestina wanted to have water incorporated into her photo session, and I'm always game for getting into the river to make my clients' dreams a reality.
Cammie is a vivacious senior from Lake Travis High School. She is planning to attend the University of Texas at Austin and I just loved her tribute to Matthew McConaughey in her burnt orange shirt for the last look of the day. We traveled all over Wimberley, TX for her senior portrait session and I LOVE how her photos turned out!
I was so honored when Amy chose me to be her senior photographer! She drove 3 hours from the Baytown area to Wimberley for her portrait session! Her photos turned out so beautiful, and her mom was VERY happy. Amy is the Co-Captain of her varsity tennis team, a member of the National Honors Society, and volunteers with an organization called PALS (Peer Assistance and Leadership) providing community service and mentoring for kids within her school district. She plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin this Fall. Hook 'Em!
I am so excited to introduce Annie, a senior at Lake Travis High School. Annie is a member of the state champion Cavalettes and plans to attend Texas A&M. She is considering a career in Occupational Therapy. Annie has such natural beauty and a sweet personality to match. She was my first senior to photograph since I moved to Wimberley, TX and let me tell you, Wimberley did not disappoint as a gorgeous location for senior photos! I'm so excited about this new chapter in our business!
Do you remember Sydney and her sister from their fabulous summer photoshoot? Well, I think her senior photoshoot topped it! Sydney wanted her senior session to reflect her personality and style... and I think we achieved that! We took her photos in downtown Dripping Springs, which is just the cutest area and gave us so many different looks in a tiny radius. Sydney is bound for the University of Alabama this fall so we had to get a little Texas flair for her to remember where her heart lies. Sydney's favorite saying is "be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire" and I know she is going to do amazing things!
Sloan's senior session was one of my very favorites of 2016! The weather was gorgeous, her outfits were on point, and she glowed in the sunlight. Sloan is a Lake Travis Cavalette, and is looking forward to attending Texas Tech this fall!
