Couldn’t resist scrapping all these photos of my 9 year old. I designed it as 2 separate pages and merged it in PS, so it doesn’t line up exactly perfectly, but not too bad in my opinion. When I print, the center seam will be in the album’s “gutter” anyway. CREDITS HERE

I absolutely love scrapbooking. I’ve been creating scrapbooks since my Grandma gave me a Creative Memories album and some stickers in junior high school (I’m not telling you how long ago that was, but even I am shocked at the number if I do the brain gymnastics to calculate it). About a year after my first was born, my Mom told me about a digital scrapbooking website and bought me Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. From there I was quickly hooked. I began with photo editing and trying neat effects on my photos, then I learned about color correction and that opened new doors. From there I quickly discovered digital elements and tutorials and the rest is history. Now I don’t have as much time to scrap as I once did and I’m perpetually behind, but I still love the process of putting my photos on “paper”, printing them, and putting them in albums (or stacking them up for future album making – I procrastinate on occasion. OK, maybe I procrastinate a LOT.) Anyway, that’s the short version of how I became a digital scrapbooker. And I think everyone should give it a try. If you’re looking for a way to start, all you need is the latest version of Adobe Photoshop Elements and a good website with lots of freebies, an amazing store with lots of amazing kit designers, abundant tutorials, and friendly people to help you when you’re stuck. In my opinion, the best place online is Designer Digitals for all of the above. There are other software programs out there, but in my opinion, Adobe gives you the most flexibility to do other things while you’re at it. Bang for your buck, that’s what it’s all about. the wonders of photo editing

I thought I’d share the before and after examples of this picture of me to show how much difference photo editing can make in a photo. I was intrigued by the soft focus on those gorgeous flowers, but wanted to emphasize the beautiful yellow and enhance the detail since I was a little bit fuzzy. I love how it turned out.

Rock Fish to Flying Fish | {Digital Scrapbooking}

Our oldest daughter started swimming lessons at 3 y/o. We lovingly called her our little “rock fish” because she sank every time she let go of the wall. But she has always loved swimming lessons and regardless of her ability, she completed each lesson with a smile on her face (whether sinking or staying afloat). She is now ready for the YMCA’s “flying fish” level, which is a huge accomplishment for our baby rock. Her daddy and I are very proud and can’t wait to see her continue to make progress. My youngest daughter loves music and dancing. She is always telling me to turn the raido up when we are in the car. This is a page I scrapped recently using pictures of her dancing around the house. The photos were overexposed and I liked the ethereal look to them. I create all my scrapbook pages using Adobe Photoshop CS4 and digital supplies from Designer Digitals.
